Children of cancer patients
Beth's Children addresses the primary concern of any parent with cancer: his or her own children. Children of cancer patients suffer terrible stress, and their parents may be only partially able to help them deal with it. Beth's Children gives these children an opportunity to share their feelings and experiences in the atmosphere of an overnight camp, where they also participate in recreational activities that bring fun and new friends into their lives.
Beth's Children was inspired by Beth, who was diagnosed with cancer at 38 and who placed the highest priority on helping her two sons understand her illness, its treatment and side effects. Beth's positive attitude and inner strength helped her family live fully during her four-year illness and to continue after her death. Beth was the sister of CJCF volunteer Fred Dorsey, who devoted many years of service to the Foundation.
